The Take Charge Defense

Fascinating video from Protect on taking charge of a situation in which you are attacked. They use the example of a shooter entering a classroom - attack the attacker rather than cower and be shot. It seems to work in the video. Of course, they're all large ex-Israeli soldiers so you mileage may vary.

The Great BBC Video Firewall

As I wrote yesterday I don't miss consuming UK media very much. Bizarrely and very meta-ly, some of the UK media I do listen to is about... media. Media podcasts. Media Talk from the Guardian and The Media Show from BBC Radio. Both available to me as free podcasts. Both highly recommended and appreciated. I can also listen to real-time streamed radio from all the UK stations. Audio it seems can cross borders with ease.

Which brings me on to the BBC iPlayer. Or as I like to call it the "Not available in your area". One has to be…

ASCIImeo

ASCIImeo visualisation of SCINTILLATION

SCINTILLATION from Xavier Chassaing on Vimeo.

Seven Hours Of HD Norway From A Train

Bergensbanen

If, like me, you were sat around during Christmas wishing you could get your hands on 7.5 hours of high definition video shot from the front of a train on Norway's Bergensbanen then you're in luck. NRK have released a bittorrent showing every minute of the train ride between Bergen to Oslo. It's 22GB and will probably take you a week to download.

Two charity songs have recently appeared on YouTube. First we have the youngsters and a collaborative project called ChartJackers with a song called I've Got Nothing for Children in Need.

Second here's the oldies and a song called We Will Remember Them for The Royal British Legion.

Brings a tear to my eyes.

Graphic Designer vs Client Animation

This is a brilliant video (embedded below from YouTube) of the relationship between designer and client. NSFW. Been there. It's made using Xtranormal which is a very cool site for turning a script into an animation. You just type in your script and directions and out pops a movie with Lego like people. (Other people are available). Great fun to play with.
