blur Logo Ripoff on Julu Lu

Above is the sign for a shop called "blur" on Julu Lu. Below in the first image you get on a Google Image Search for "blur logo".

(Takes deep breath and sighs.)
Good to see originality is alive and well.
blur are a popular band from the UK. Visit the real blur
Here's the thing: this lack of originality is not even blinked at. If, indeed, it is even noticed since blur are not so well known in China. It's just laziness on the part of the ripoff-artist that made the sign and cheapness on the part of the shop…

Brilliant a cappella rendition of You're Gonna Miss Me with only hand claps and empty soup pots as accompaniment. Embbed from YouTube below.

Design For Life on Vimeo
All the episodes of "Design for Life", the BBC's version of Britain's Got Talent/Dragon's Den for designers, are now on Vimeo. Handy for those of us whose eyeball geography does not meet with the beeb's approval. Links below.

Pavements for Pedestrians: Nanchang Ruijin

Ah, the classic "blocking the pedestrain crossing with our bikes" maneuver. Nicely executed. Corner of Nanchang and Ruijin.

hoF Serving You One Hour A Day

So, the other day, we're walking past hoF on Si Nan Lu about 1:30PM. The windows are so dark it always looks closed and I'm wondering if it's open. I look at the sign and it says open 11:00PM - 12:00PM. Not open. That's a weird opening time I thought to myself and took the snap above. And then the door opened and they said come on in we're open. I pointed out the sign - it took them a while but they eventually twigged it should say 11:00AM. The sign had been up for a week.

ICBC ATM UI SNAFU

Above is a picture from the ICBC cash withdrawl screen. So, you've entered the amount and you're sure it's correct so you click "Correct". Right? Wrong. You should have clicked "Confirm" to confirm its correctness. (Let's not get into "Return" for returning the cash or as a pseudonym for Enter as on keyboards also meaning Confirm - actually it means go to the previous screen.) This would have been better with just two buttons: "OK" and "Cancel". Still, I can't really complain - it's in English for which I am eternally grateful.
BTW: The title of this post is made…
